15 MUST-SEE MOVIES IF YOU WANT TO WORK IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY

fashion movies
Fashion industry is not a dreamy world. It can be a cruel place to work in, with huge competition. One day you're in, and the next day you're out. Nailed the "Project Runway" reference! There are lots of movies and documentaries that can prepare you a bit for this world, if you want to be a part of it.

1) The September Issue (2009)
A documentary chronicling Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour's preparations for the 2007 fall-fashion issue. It's one of my favourite fashion documentaries, because you learn from the best!

Documentary film takes a look at some of the world's most influential fashion images as conceived by the magazine's iconic fashion editors.

A camera follows model Christy Turlington through the spring fashion shows in Milan, Paris, and New York one year in the early 1990s. Extended footage looks at Versace and Armani in Milan, Galliano, Gaultier, and Langerfeld in Paris, and Isaac Mizrahi in New York. With Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Turlington, we see the nature of friendships among models.

A chronicle of the interconnected lives of a group of people in the lead up to Paris Fashion Week.

A closer look at the inner world of modeling.

Dior and I brings the viewer inside the storied world of the Christian Dior fashion house with a privileged, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Raf Simons' first haute couture collection as its new artistic director-a true labor of love created by a dedicated group of collaborators.

A profile of the noted and extraordinarily cheerful veteran New York City fashion photographer.

Blurring the line between fiction and reality, aspiring fashion photographer Shawn Regruto -obsessed with documenting every part of his life.

Fashion is considered a glamorous industry full of beautiful people. "Garmento" tells the other side of the story, with a dark and satirical look at New York's wholesale garment industry, where shady deals are made for a buck and ruthlessness is a prerequisite for career success.

A documentary focused on former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief and fashion stylist Carine Roitfeld as she moves to New York to launch her own magazine.

A look at the life of legendary fashion designer Valentino. From reflecting on how they met as young men, their multiple, lavish homes (and pugs), to preparing for Valentino's final Haute Couture show before retiring, this documentary covers all areas of designer's life and career.

A look at the life and work of the influential fashion editor of Harpers Bazaar, Diana Vreeland.

A documentary on the Manhattan department store with interviews from an array of fashion designers, style icons, and celebrities such as the Olsens, Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs.

First ever look behind-the-scenes at NY Fashion Week, with the history of how it all began in the early 1990's. Story told by the 'Fashion Insiders' and the Top Fashion Designers: Betsey Johnson, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Zac Posen, etc. and the Top Fashion Editors from Harper's Bazaar, ELLE, In-Style Magazine & other fashion industry journalists.

Loic Prigent was the first person ever to be allowed to film Marc Jacobs at work as the creative director of Louis Vuitton and offers a candid view of the man at work. There has never been a better time to watch this - Jacobs left Vuitton in October 2013 and has since been succeeded by Nicolas Ghesquière.
