Hi loves, hope you're well! Nothing I love more than a black and white outfit. But today I'm not going to talk about style -whaaat? I'd love to share with you a few simple things I did, that brought more people to this blog.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE TITLE
You basically came here, because of the title. Write about things people want to read about, and more importantly they would search for it. Keywords are very important not only for the body of your post but also for the title, because that's what people are going to type in order to find what they're looking for. And when they see a title that says exactly what they're searching, guess what? They click on it. For example, let's talk numbers: My "Back to school outfits under $20" post, got 290 views in the very first day, and every day it gets around 30-50 more views. Why? Because the title is eye-catching and it's actually search-able (if that even makes sense).
DON'T MESS WITH YOUR READERS
That's something a lot -and I mean A LOT- of bloggers do. Writing a sassy title is cool, but if the actual post has nothing to do with it, then OH-dear-Buddha-NO! Trying to fool your readers is not a good idea, it's the worst thing for your blog. Because as well as North, people remember too. (Waddup Game of Thrones reference). And if you fool them once, trust me, they won't come back to your blog. So, we say yes to a fierce title, but you have to keep the post fierce as well.
I know it's pretty obvious, but if you want more traffic for your blog, you should probably post more often. Now, I don't mean that posting a picture of your dog every 30 minutes is going to bring you traffic, but writing at least 3 posts every week is a good deal. That way it's more likely for people to stop by your blog just in case you've published something new.
PAGE VIEWS COME FROM REAL PEOPLE
Shocking, right? Sometimes I'm sitting there wondering what my readers look like, what they've been up to. Creepy, I know, I'm just being honest. But what I'm trying to say here, is that you can actually talk to them. How cool is that? If they comment on your post, take the time to comment back. It may takes a lot of time, however it's really going to help you build an audience. Not only you get more traffic, but you also make more internet friends.
SEO IS THE CINDERELLA'S BAD SISTER
No one loves SEO (Search Engine Optimization). The ugly truth is, it can really boost your traffic. The SEO tips that really brought more people to my blog are:
- Writing more than 200 words.
- Write a small description of your post in the "Search Description" section.
- Using throughout the post keywords like "outfit", "ideas", "bodycon dress", "crop top", "how to" and words that are more likely for someone to search (and are relative to your content).
- Using alt text for every image, so it's easier for search engines to spot your blog post. For example the text alt for the images on this post are "black white outfit ideas". So when someone will search for it on (let's say) Google, the images/post will pop up.
SPREAD THE LOVE
That's probably the thing that helped me the most during this week. You put a lot of effort for every post, but then what? Spread it, girl! Obviously no one wants a link shoved in their face all day long, but a little bit of self promotion is what will boost your blog's traffic. The "social media world" is your best friend for this kind of stuff. Find out which one of the Twitter Chats is most convenient for you (there is one every day). Post your blog in Facebook groups like World Fashion Bloggers, Beauty Fashion and Food, and Fashion Bloggers. What rocketed my views was promoting my blog posts to Google Plus Communities like Fashion!, Fashion Bloggers, Fashion Lovers. There are plenty of them, do your research to find what communities are better for your blog. Commenting on other blogs that you read, and leaving a small link of your blog is also a good way to gain traffic (but don't overdo it). Not to mention, Reddit is a great place to promote your blog. See? Just spread the love, and it will come right back at you!
